Vegas – Day Two

Draft day! This morning was the FFPC Main Event draft. The world’s largest high-stakes season long contest.

Don couldn’t have been more well prepared for the draft. He has spent the last 20 years working his way up to this level. He has studied and researched and listened to the experts all summer and now all that hard work is going to pay off.

The draft took place old-school style and not online. That made it a lot more fun than if it was all done on the computer.

Don’s picks went as planned. He had the second pick and chose David Johnson. The rest of his team fell into place nicely and barring some unforeseen injury should play out well for him. Don would really like to win the FFPC Championship Trophy Helmet!

My favorite part of Don’s draft was his gear. His team is “Hulking Out” and he was hulking out down to the stickers on the laptop! I’m sure he left a lasting impression on his league, and they won’t forget who Hulking Out is.

When the draft was over, the Fantasyland guys were interviewing some of the high stakes players. They interviewed the co-owners who had the number one pick in Don’s league.

After the draft, we walked around the mall for awhile. We almost got to meet Jerry Rice and take a picture with him! A sports memorabilia shop was having a signing event and all that stopped us from meeting him was $179.00. Can you believe that? I had lunch with Warren Moon, and they want that much to take a picture? We had a lot of fun with that scenario, and Don did get a picture of the Hall of Famer.

The rest of our day was spent much the same as yesterday – relaxing by the pool and getting a little lucky in the casino. I said I wouldn’t play a slot machine unless there was one with bees or fairies and wouldn’t you know, there was one with butterflies AND fairies! I walked away with an easy $100 and will call myself super lucky!
