Happy Independence Day!

July 4th is a day of reflection, thankfulness, family and friends. Parades, picnics and fireworks are on many American’s agendas.

We started our day at a parade in Canfield, OH. The town square was festively decorated and a large crowd turned out to watch. We met our daughter Ashley, her husband Bobby and baby girl Charlotte there and, thanks to Charlotte’s outgoing personality, we soon made friends up and down the sidewalk. We were happily surprised to see friends, who used to be next-door-neighbors but who now live in Canfield. No matter where they live they will always be our “neighbors”.

Aunt Kathie and Uncle Butch, from Florida, are RVing around and stopped for a week at a KOA campground near us. Later today we are going to visit them and let them beat us at 5 Crowns. If you like to play cards and have never played 5 Crowns, we recommend you go get a deck and get your game on! We think we are pretty good at cards, but Aunt Kathie generally wins and if she doesn’t, Uncle Butch takes first place.

We will probably skip tonight’s fireworks. Our jobs require us to get up early so it usually seems like a better idea to go home and get some sleep. We will catch some awesome fireworks at an Indians or Scrappers game on a night when we are both off the next day.

Happy Independence Day to all! We love the USA! ❤️🇺🇸💙
