Week Sixteen Results

Week Sixteen was interrupted by Santa Claus? Gift wrapping, parties and baking took precedence over Fantasy Football – said no one ever. However, Don’s Week Sixteen was slightly interrupted by his crazy work schedule and mine was hijacked by a mean strep bug.

Congratulations to Jeremy Wyman, winner of Bob Lung’s Fantasy Cares Eliminator Best Ball League. Jeremy’s team was consistently at the top of the league so it was no surprise that he won. That being said, we are all winners for being part of a great cause that helped many children have a brighter Christmas.

Don won his Hometown Trophy League, beating Andy 107-86. He has a 9-7 record and the win clinched his playoff spot. Don plays against Andy’s dad, George, this week and if he wins, he will win his division. If he loses, he will make it as a wild card team. Either way, the threat of the huge trophy is looming over me!

Our big news for Week Sixteen was a great start in the two-week Championship Playoff in the Football Diehards Listeners League. We are playing against Mike Dempsey, co-host of Sirius XM Fantasy Radio’s Football Diehards and at the end of the first week we are ahead 182.6-169.7.

One of the most exciting parts of our Christmas Eve came while we were driving to our son-in-law’s parent’s home for their Christmas party. The Rogers throw a huge party every Christmas Eve, complete with some of the most delicious food you could ever eat. They have a large family and there is always lots of laughter and love – a fun time for all.

We were listening to the Football Diehards on our way, and they started talking about what a great team I have! This is a huge show, y’all – and they are talking about my team! Dempsey said he could play my team 100 times and I would beat him 80, and at about that time I was nearly jumping out of the car. He went on to say he’s not out of it yet, and we would completely agree with him on that point. Two of my best players are questionable, so we will have to keep an eye on them and make any necessary changes.

The Cleveland Browns had a huge win over the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday making their record 7-7-1. The Browns have had a tremendous turnaround and could potentially end the season with the same record as the Pittsburgh Steelers. Speaking of Pittsburgh – they are in an interesting predicament. Steelers fans have to wildly cheer on the Browns this week which will be hilarious to all of us Cleveland fans. Pittsburgh needs the Browns to beat the Baltimore Ravens in order to keep the Steelers’ playoff dreams alive. This also puts the Browns fans in a predicament because we all want our team to win, but it would be pretty funny if the Steelers are finished for the year. This is a big rivalry in our neck of the woods, and will give us a lot to talk about however it all turns out.

We had a fun and successful Week Sixteen and a very Merry Christmas. We were both off work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and the strep bug backed off so we could both enjoy the holiday. Santa must have thought we were good by the looks of our stockings, and we are blessed with family and friends near and far.
