Week Five Results

Week Five was one of those weeks where you win some and you lose some. We aren’t doing great, but we aren’t doing terrible either. We are staying about average, not exactly where we want to be, but it could be a lot worse!

This was a nerve-racking week for our 5 Rings Survivor Pool! Three super smart people picked New England and had an easy win on Thursday night. They were able to relax on Sunday and enjoy the games. The rest of us suffered through insane games, especially the two who chose Carolina and only won because of a 63 yard field goal which almost tied the NFL’s record of 64 yards. Four of us picked Cincinnati.  At halftime it wasn’t looking too good for us and I quit checking the score. Being down 17-0 isn’t fun when your survivorhood depends on a win. Thankfully, the Bengals got their act together, remembered they were supposed to be playing football, and pulled out a win. Nine advance to Week Six!

Don won his FFPC Main Event game by almost 40 points. His record is 3-2, one game out of first place. His league has one team with a 4-1 record and seven with records of 3-2. He is fifth in his league for total points and is ranked 953 overall. Time to turn on the heat, Hulking Out, and score some big time points.

The Hometown Trophy League didn’t end as well, with Don getting beat 102-83. His record is 2-3 but he is just one game out of first place. He is second in the league in total points.

We also lost our Football Diehards Listeners League game, getting beat by Matt Morton’s Sandwich Freak 146-133. Other than us giving the Sandwich Freak his first win, I can’t think of much to say about this game! We are 2-3 in that league and nowhere near the top in points.

Our team survived another week in Bob Lung’s Fantasy Cares Eliminator Best Ball League. I always tell Don where we are ranked, but he has finally convinced me that as long as we aren’t the team being eliminated, it doesn’t really matter where we are in the rankings. Now I get it. We have to always be above that bottom guy, and we will go on to the next week. Other than that, it doesn’t matter if we finish second from the top or second from the bottom. So far so good with that league. It is a learning experience and I think I am a fan of best ball.
