Labor Day Weekend

Three day weekends can’t come often enough. We appreciate an extra day off, and try to fill Labor Day weekend full of as much fun as possible.

Don started the weekend early but worked yesterday, so technically he still had three days off. Thursday started his FFPC drafts – one each on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. His teams are all a little different, and he is happy with all of them. He drafted Russell Gage in two leagues; yes, he joined the RG party!

Friday night was date night with a trip to Sonic Drive-In and Walmart. We aren’t fancy, and it doesn’t take much for us to have a fun time! We have a huge Bernie the One-Eyed Puppy event on 9/11, so this was an opportune time to shop for everything we need for the fundraiser. Of course, we listened to Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio while we were driving. We planned to take photos of our feast, but didn’t remember til we were about halfway through our cheeseburgers. If you’ve never been to Sonic, google to find the closest one, and go there as soon as you can! We have to drive nearly to Cleveland, and it is worth every minute of the drive. Sonic does not disappoint! Don’s favorites are the Sonic double cheeseburger and footlong chili dog. I love their onion rings and Diet Cherry Limeade.

Saturday night was his Hometown League draft party at Tangier’s Bar & Grille. This league has been in existence since 1986, and there are only a few of the original members left. The Hometown League has some unique rules that require a different strategy than most leagues. The challenge makes it fun and keeps Kurj on his toes. It’s been a few years since the 4 foot trophy has been in our living room, so it’s about time for it to make a return. Don has been to the Super Bowl six times and won the championship four times. There is a lot of competition in the Hometown League amongst a great group of guys.

Don worked all day Sunday. His work days equal about a day and a half of my typical days. He came home to a cookout in progress, just in time since he brought home the buns! Burgers from our local meat market, Badurik’s Butcher Block, are the bomb diggity. No sauce needed, but Badurik’s Apple BBQ is a notch above amazing.

Today was sports betting day. We placed two bets. The over/under on the Browns win/loss total is 10 1/2 so we took the over. Betting on the Browns to win the Super Bowl in a Pittsburgh casino isn’t the most popular thing to do, but it’s worth a chance! Cleveland has better odds than we’ve ever seen – 16-1, with only five teams above them. Without spending a lot of money, we can still make the season even more fun by hoping we win those two bets. In Believeland, this is next year!

We hope everyone had a safe and fun weekend. Stay healthy and Go Browns!
