Don’s Football Sunday Birthday

Don’s birthday couldn’t fall at a better time of year for him. Especially when his special day lands on Playoff Sunday and his Hometown Fantasy League Team is in the playoffs!

Our plans were made for Don’s birthday about a month ago when he announced all he wanted for his birthday was to stay home and watch football. A little pizza, chips and dip, and maybe a beer were the extent of his wish list. Oh, and a coconut cream pie would be good too!

We always get together with Don’s parents and my daughters for his birthday so we scheduled a big family Chinese food feast at The Royal Sushi Buffet. Unfortunately, the snowstorm of the year blew in with a vengeance yesterday and we were unable to make it to dinner, but we will all go tomorrow evening.

Shoveling a foot of heavy snow off of our driveway probably was not on Don’s list of things he wanted to do on his birthday, but that was what he did after working out and eating his oatmeal. That snow was some of the heaviest snow ever!

Other than the snow shoveling, this day has been a pretty fantastic day for my Fantasy Football hubby. He is playing against Joe in the Huge Trophy Hometown League, a newby to their league. Joe’s beginner’s luck and maybe a little skill has taken him this far, but I really hope Don beats him today. Getting knocked out on his birthday would just be wrong!

We celebrate each other one day a year, which really doesn’t seem enough. I am proud of Don – he is a kindhearted, good man and one heck of a Fantasy Football player. And, maybe just maybe, he will get that coconut cream pie next year.

God Bless America
