631 Days and Still Counting

It has been 631 days since the Cleveland Browns’ last win. We thought the losing streak was going to end last Sunday, but a missed field goal dashed those hopes, and the game ended in a tie. It was, perhaps, one of the worst shanked field goal attempts we have ever seen in our lives. So bad, that everyone was positive it had been blocked, until we watched the replay. It was just a really bad shank.

At that time, we blamed Cleveland’s nasty weather – a windy, torrential downpour kind of day. We felt bad for Cleveland’s kicker, Zane Gonzalez. His performance was awful, and cost the Browns a win.

Today, the Browns played the Saints, inside the New Orleans Super Dome. No wind or rain, but Zane Gonzalez couldn’t kick a football to save his life! Although he did have two 39-yard field goals, he also had two missed field goals and two missed extra points. Browns fans are livid, to say the least.

Our thoughts are divided. We were so disappointed in the outcome. The Browns were once again in the lead for the entire game. It is frustrating as a fan to lose in so many different ways! We are also disappointed for the team. It took a lot of effort for the Browns defense to hold the Saints offense to only 21 points. And, this guy is paid millions of dollars to kick a ball!

On the other hand, Gonzalez had the worst day of his entire life broadcast live for thousands to witness. Thanks to social media, all of the worst comments have been put out there for him to see. The expression on his face when he missed the second field goal said it all. We are human, and make mistakes. This is someone’s son.

At the end of the day, the Browns are still LOSERS, we are still Browns fans, and Zane will more than likely still have a job.  They are the Browns, and we have not given up on them yet.
