October Baseball

Game One of the ALDS: The New York Yankees vs the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. Sold out crowd of over 35,000. Seventy degrees. Harvest moon. Indians win 4-0. We were there!

We stopped by the SportsTime Ohio pre-game booth long enough to check out former Indians players Rick Manning and Jenson Lewis along with Al Pawlowski as they broadcasted for all the fans at home.

Even the statue of Indians Hall of Famer Jim Thome got into the postseason spirit! Most of the Indians fans wore red to the game – they were REaDy for a win.

The anxiety felt by many Indians fans over Corey Kluber not pitching in Game One was unnecessary. Trevor Bauer pitched a two-hit, 6 1/3 innings, struck out eight, walked one, and took the no-hitter into the sixth inning. He left the field to a standing ovation. Job well done, Bauer!

There is nothing like post season baseball. The crowd is on fire and the atmosphere is electrical. Cleveland fans have World Series fever and all of us think this is the Indians’ year to win it.

Andrew Miller, relief pitcher for the Indians, is a fan favorite. The crowd chanted “Miller time” when it was time for him to relieve Bauer. He did not disappoint.

Cleveland’s own Fan Man made an appearance in our section. He single-handedly gets the crowd pumped up more than they already are. Fan Man is a unique superhero mix of Browns, Cavs and Indians.

The Indians are now 2-0 in the postseason, having beat the Yankees last night 9-8 in 13 innings. It took over five hours of battling to get it done, but now they are one win away from a series victory!
