My Masters Sunday – by Don

I am not the writer of the family, but here we go anyway. Sally was out of town Sunday which left me home alone on what some consider one of the greatest Sundays in sports. The Final Round of the Masters is always one of my favorite things to watch. But, little did I know that I would be flipping from channel to channel to channel because three sporting events were going on at the same time with a lot of drama.

I was watching the Masters, and Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia were deadlocked after the 16th hole. That’s when I received an alert on my phone about the Cavaliers giving up 44 points and a 26-point lead in the 4th quarter, and that the Cavaliers/Hawks game was headed into overtime. When I first saw this, I thought there was no way this could be true, so I flipped it to the Cavs game to be amazed that it was true!

Meanwhile, I was also keeping an eye on the Indians’ score. The Indians were down 3-0 in the 7th with two runners on. After a 28-minute half inning – four instant replays later – they only managed one run.  During that 28-minute half inning, I was clicking back and forth from the Indians to the Masters to the Cavs, trying to keep up with all that excitement and drama.

Needless to say, the Cavs ended up losing by one point and the Indians lost by one run. At least the Masters gave golf fans a total thrill as it went into the 19th hole and Sergio Garcia finally won his first major after 73 previous attempts.

This Masters Sunday was a fantastic day all around with the start of baseball season, the end of the NBA regular season and the official opening of Grass Mowing season!
